All about
the dentures
Your teeth are an important part of your appearance. Therefore, having dentures placed can be a big change. Happy Smiles has specialized in developing dentures for many years. Our experienced team will deliver you high-quality dentures, with a natural look as a priority.
First appointment: printmaking
During your first appointment, we make an impression of your teeth with alginate, a type of liquid rubber. This impression is used to make a plaster cast needed for the precision impression in our dental laboratory.
Second appointment: prosthesis design
At the second appointment, we use the plaster cast to make an individual impression. This ensures that the edges and boundaries of your dentures will not cause problems later on. A layer of hard wax is applied to the plaster cast to indicate muscle attachment. Then we use a light liquid silicone impression material to make the final impression. This involves imitating the most common mouth movements to design your prosthesis perfectly.
Third appointment: bite determination
The third appointment is devoted to bite determination. With the new plaster models we make bite plates, fitted with wax walls. With this, we record the relationships between your lower and upper jaw and determine the final position of your teeth. We also discuss the shape and color of the teeth in your dentures.
Fourth and fifth appointments: fitting prosthesis and final prosthesis
By the fourth appointment, your dentures are almost ready. With a fitting denture, we check that the denture fits properly and is to your liking. If you are satisfied, the dental technician will finalize your dentures with plastic. During the fifth appointment, you will receive your final denture to take home.
Reimbursement by health insurance company
There are health insurance companies that will fully reimburse the cost of your dentures. Every five years, you are entitled to 75 percent reimbursement from basic insurance. However, tooth extraction is not always reimbursed. For more information, contact your health insurance company.
